Plugging into the High Tech High campus in N.C.

This past Sunday, LNC Alumni Paul O'Neal, current student Gary Hill and I were on hand for a presentation at the home of High Tech High co-founders Gary & Jerri Ann Jacobs about the world-class charter's plans for the North County campus.

150 ninth grade students are currently enrolled in the temporary facilities off San Marcos Boulevard. Applications for the incoming ninth grade class are due by March 7th. It's a remarkable program and one North County should rally around and support -- it's good for workforce development, fosters creativity and innovation, and improves quality of life. Consider donating to its capital campaign, and who knows?  When the new instructional facilities are built, you might find yourself touring the halls with Bill Gates who is one of the charter's biggest supporters along with many generous and engaged local leaders like the Jacobs family.

LNC Alumni and San Marcos Mayor Jim Desmond is a 'model' mayor.... Congratulations Jim and fellow alumni Steve Kildoo... Here's an excerpt:

....Desmond envisions a “Gaslamp North” that will attract visitors from throughout the region to stroll, dine and shop.

“It will be spectacular,” says Steve Kildoo, chairman of both the San Marcos Planning Commission and the San Marcos Creek Specific Plan Task Force. “I believe we’re going to become the informal capital of North County when this is finished.”....

Great progress on finding our Breakfast Speaker!

Our committee has been scouring the web and come up with some amazing speakers. We're looking for a futurist who can really 'bring it' for our alumni. We're working out the details with our top choice and hope to bring news on that soon.
